Ronaldo is the top scorer in national championships in the 21st century

Juventus star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the world’s top scorer in the 21st century by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

According to IFFHS press office, the ranking takes into account all the goals that were scored from 2001 to 2020. During this period of time, the Portuguese scored 462 goals.

Barcelona striker Lionel Messi came second with 451 goals, while Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic rounded out the top three with 379 goals. Note that the Swede also scored 13 goals in the 20th century.

  4. Luis Suarez – 332.

It is noted that only 58 players managed to overcome the mark of 200 goals in the XXI century.
